Teaching
I am passionate about my teaching, and always strive to do my best in my teaching activities. Here are a few pictures of me in action in the classroom.
At the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), I teach a variety of courses, including small-sized upper-level undergraduate and (post)graduate courses, to mega-sized and large-sized introductory undergraduate courses. I have also been a pioneer at HKUST in terms of online teaching, including MOOCs.

MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSE (MOOC)
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) wass among the first in Asia to partner with Coursera to bring HKUST's courses online worldwide. The move expanded HKUST's growing course roster and international presence, adding new perspectives in the areas of humanities, life science, science & technology and more. Under the partnership, three courses first went online in 2013.
Among the three courses, my course -- "Science, Technology, and Society in China" -- was the very first HKUST course to be offered on the Coursera platform.
Science, Technology, and Society in China
This course is a trilogy of short courses on science, technology and society in China. Part 1 explores in general terms how engineering and scientific knowledge and practice are influenced by the dynamic interactions between science, technology and society. I lay the groundwork for mastering the remaining two parts of the course by introducing overarching concepts and ideas, providing you with a platform on which to think about the science/technology–society relationship and related policy issues with a focus on China. This understanding will then be applied more specifically to China in the next two courses in the series. Part 2 examines the impact of the Industrial Revolution in the West on scientific and technological progress in China. Part 3 examines science and technology in Chinese society today and the basis for the policy prescriptions the Chinese government is currently employing to promote innovation and technology development.
